Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect
- Account: email, display name, password hash, optional bio and social link.
- Manuscripts: book metadata, manuscript file, cover image, content warnings.
- Activity: applications, feedback, ratings, Q&A, in-app reader comments.
- Payments: transaction records and a Stripe customer/connected-account ID. Card details are handled by Stripe; BookBeta never sees them.
- Technical: standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention.
2. How we use it
To operate the Service: authenticate you, deliver manuscripts to approved readers, process payments, prevent abuse, send transactional email, and comply with law.
3. Processors we share data with
- Lovable Cloud (Supabase): database, file storage, authentication.
- Stripe: payments, payouts, identity verification for paid readers.
- Email and analytics providers, if and when added (disclosed here).
4. Manuscript confidentiality
Manuscripts are stored in a private bucket and served via short-lived signed URLs only to the author and approved readers. Readers accept an NDA before access.
5. Cookies
We use strictly-necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep account data until you delete your account. Manuscripts are deleted when you delete the corresponding book. Payment records are retained as required by tax and accounting law.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Email support@bookbeta.app to exercise these rights.
8. Children
BookBeta is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, row-level access controls, signed URLs). No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in-product.
